Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has a mandate to provide ocean data, information and advisory services to society, industry, the government and the scientific community through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through systematic and focused research. Some of the popular societal services of INCOIS include, Potential Fishing Zone Advisory Services (PFZ), Coral Bleach Alert Services (CBAS), Harmful Algal Bloom Advisory Services (HABS), Ocean State Forecast Services (OSF), Tsunami Early Warning Services (TEWS), Storm Surge Early Warning Information (SSEW), Marine Search and Rescue Information (MSAR), Oil Spill Trajectory Prediction (OSTP), Coastal Multi-hazard Vulnerability Mapping (MHVM) and Ocean data services to the coastal and maritime stakeholders. Ocean observation networks, ocean data management, ocean modelling and data assimilation, information communication technologies and applied ocean research form the bedrock of INCOIS services.
INCOIS projects for the period 2022 to 2026, envisage enhancing the scope and accuracies of existing services/products and also initiate new services (Jellyfish aggregation advisories, Coastal Water Quality Services, Rip Current Forecast System, Coastal Erosion Forecast System, Small Vessel Advisory System, Optimal Ship Routing Services, Ocean Climate Change Advisory Services) to meet the evolving requirements of its stakeholders. In order to co-design and implement specific sub-components of its projects, INCOIS invites focussed collaborative proposals from research institutions and academia with strong expertise and relevant experience in one or more of the following areas.
