This 3-day training/workshop is designed to build the capacity of Member States in the Indian Ocean region to sustain and effectively utilize marine observation networks. It aims to enhance participants' skills in maintaining ocean observing equipment, ensuring data quality, and leveraging ocean observations for improved forecasting and operational services. The training/workshop combines classroom sessions with hands-on training, focusing on key areas such as ocean observing technologies, data access and management, quality control practices, and regional collaboration. Emphasis will be placed on the practical application of observations to support socio-economic benefits through improved ocean forecasting and decision-making.
The target audience for this course :
Marine meteorological and oceanographic forecasters, ocean data managers, and observation instrument operators from the Western and Northern Indian Ocean region.
