EVALUATION

Earthquakes of this size sometimes have small potential to generate local tsunamis that can be destructive along the coast located within 100 KM of the earthquake epicenter. Authorities in the region of the epicenter should be aware of this possibility. However, so far there is no confirmation about the triggering of a tsunami. An investigation is under way to determine if a tsunami has been triggered.

RTSP INDIA will monitor sea level gauges near epicenter and report if any tsunami wave activity has occurred.
