Gist of Contributions

  • Studied biogeochemical processes in the Indian Ocean and innovated for establishing a coastal biogeochemical observation and forecast system
  • Developed and implemented an operational Ocean forecast and Information System for India
  • Spearheaded in operational ocean services by developing and operationationalizing ocean forecast services for Maldives, Seychelles and Sri Lanka.
  • Established Real-time observation systems integrating with INSAT for improving the forecast
  • Successfully forecasted Ocean State and issued High Wave Alerts during many Cyclones including Phailin and Hudhud with real time validation.
  • Developed and operationalised many custom made products such as Online oil spill advisories, forecast along shipping routes, forecast for port and Harbours, Web map services, high wave Alerts, Joint bulletins during extreme conditions, High resolution 3D forecast for west coast of India, SARAT (Search and Rescue Aid Tool) etc.
  • Established vast user base for ocean forecast and Information Services .
  • Published 53 scientific papers in reputed national and international journals
