The network is designed to measure and monitor the progress of tsunamis from the two Tsunamigenic source regions of Indian Ocean in real time. The network comprises of 36 state-of-the-art tide gauges transmitting real time data through different modes of communication like INSAT, GPRS simultaneously for processing and interpretation. In addition to Indian tide gauge network, INCOIS also receives data from around 400 international tide gauges in near real time which are operated by other countries.
