Brief Description (Abstract):

Through MLRP, CMLRE has been organizing, coordinating and promoting ocean development activities in the country which inter-alia include mapping of the living resources, preparing inventory of commercially exploitable living marine resources, their optimum utilization through ecosystem management and R & D in basic sciences on Marine Living Resources & Ecology. FORV Sagar Sampada is the main platform for the data/sample collections, and since the inception of MLRP in 1998, the vessel has been cruising in the Indian EEZ (to Southern Ocean, Mauritius waters and Oman waters during a total of 4 International cruises) to collect data/samples with regard to physical, chemical biological and fishery parameters.

Purpose: To strengthen the R & D works with regard to the Marine Ecosystem processes and to update the information on marine biodiversity
