Brief Description (Abstract):

Temperature/salinity profiles in the upper oceanic column were generated at every about a degree. The spacing is dictated by weather conditions and scientific rationale which is predefined.

Status: Ongoing

Purpose: The purpose is to understand the role of upper Ocean heat content variability over a long period of time (10 years) and its role in fueling the cyclones in the SO. The summer monsoon winds originate from the southern hemisphere so there is a need to relate the moisture supplied by the SO region to the winds which cross the equator and deposit the rain over Asian sub-continent.
