Brief Description (Abstract):

As part of radar and satellite meteorology project, the dual polarization Doppler Ka-band Scanning Polarimetric radar (KaSPR) facility is established at Mandhardev, a remote location in the complex terrain of the Western Ghats. The KaSPR continuously probes the three-dimensional structure of clouds at millimeter wavelength which is useful to extract genuine cloud information with regard to distribution and composition of clouds, cloud properties and microphysics. The KaSPR observations are carried out as part of the monsoon campaign every year.

Purpose: To better understand orographic cloud structure, composition and microphysical processes.
