Brief Description (Abstract):

Climatic changes have a significant effect on the glacial and periglacial regions adjacent to the large inland ice masses of Antarctica. A perspective on climatic variability can be obtained by the study of sedimentation within the lacustrine systems.

Status: Completed

Purpose: An attempt was made during the expedition to retrieve long, in-situ lake bottom sediment cores using an indigenously designed and fabricated sediment coring system developed by the authors at Antarctica Division, GSI, considering the field constraints and extreme antarctic climate.
