Brief Description (Abstract):

As a part of High Altitude Cloud Physics Laboratory Aerosol chemistry instrumentation, Itanalyze particulate organic and elemental carbon (OC/EC) aerosols. This Carbon Aerosol Analyzer uses a proven thermal-optical method to analyze for organic and elemental carbon aerosols collected on quartz filters. The samples are thermally desorbed from the filter medium under an inert helium atmosphere followed by an oxidizing atmosphere using carefully controlled heating ramps.

Status: Ongoing

Purpose: It used to measure particulate organic and elemental carbon (OC/EC) aerosols.
