Brief Description (Abstract):

As part of radar and satellite meteorology project, the X-band Scanning Polarimetric Doppler radar (XSPR) facility is established at Mandhardev, a remote location in the complex terrain of the Western Ghats. The X-band radar continuously provides the three-dimensional structure of precipitating clouds which is useful to extract information on rainfall distribution, cloud properties and microphysical processes. The XSPR observations are carried out as part of the monsoon campaign every year.

Purpose: To better understand orographic convection precipitation processes and microphysical processes of cloud and precipitation
