Brief Description (Abstract):
NGRI has set up a seismological observatory at Maitri. The observatory was initially installed in 1997 but by 2012, the instrument and the pier developed problems. During 2014, a new pier has been constructed and a new seismograph has been installed. The data collected are uploaded on the NCAOR server on daily basis.
Status: Ongoing
Purpose: To record local and global earthquakes, icequakes, glacialquakes.
