Examples of prehistoric art from
The European rock art is from the Caves of Lascaux in France, which contains paintings from about 10,000 BC to before 30,000 BC. The example shown here is from about 18,000 BC.
Similar examples of prehistoric art have been found on all continents. The art from Asia and Africa shown here stand as examples for all of them. The Indian painting of a fighter on a horse is from the late stone age (Neolithic period). The carving from southern Africa has been dated to before 8000 BC.
