"High" and "low" indicate different discharge conditions; these conditions apply generally, in the sense that the upper end of a line corresponds to high discharge. The Mississippi, Columbia, Connecticut, James, Delaware and Raritan River are in the USA, Juan de Fuca Strait in Canada and the USA, and Silver Bay in Alaska.
