This leg runs nearly exactly north-south. It gives a very clear representation of the STF in the vicinity of the Australian continental shelf off Bass Strait.
The centre of the front is found at km 100. Compared to the observations in the west the frontal gradient is reduced and the frontal zone widened. (It covers the region between km 80 and km 180.)
