The STF is well established as a single front in this leg, identified by the 12 - 14°C temperature and 34.9 - 35.4 salinity transition which reaches the surface at km 60. Both the 12°C isotherm and the 35.0 isohaline rise up from below 200 m depth. The core isopycnal for the front is 26.5.
A meander of the STF is traversed again at km 160.
The most interesting feature of this leg is a submerged eddy with its core at 150 - 200 m depth at km 160. The density field indicates that it extends from 50 m to beyond 300 m depth.
