Absorption (16%), back radiation (7%) and reflection (24% from clouds, 4% from the earth's surface) of the incoming short-wave radiation in the atmosphere. Short-wave radiation reaches the ocean surface directly, as scattered clear sky radiation and as radiation scattered by clouds.
