Two examples of an ADCP. The orange coloured parts are the sound transmitters/receivers, the white cylinder contains the electronics. The instrument on the left is designed for deep water applications; it has a resolution of 32 m and a range of 600 m. The instrument on the right is a typical shallow water design; its resolution can be varied between 1 m and 4 m, which gives it a range from 20 m to 110 m.
