  Last date for Submission of Call for Project Proposals Under Ocean State Forecast (OSF) and Marine Fishery Advisory Services (MFAS) is on or before 15^th February, 2018 @ 05:00 PM IST. The proposals, which are submitted on or before 15^th February, 2018, will be considered in the first round.

Background and Introduction:

Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is the responsible agency for providing various operational services such as Ocean State Forecast (OSF) Services and Marine Fishery Advisory Services (MFAS) to provide livelihood and sea safety information to the sea-going population. OSF services provides various forecast information on Waves, Currents, sea surface temperature, mixed layer depth, depth of thermocline, tides, etc. and MFAS services provided advisories on Potential Fishing Zones (PFZ) & Tuna Fishery advisories. These services are extensively validated during earlier plan periods and improved upon subsequently to provide accurate advisories / information to various stakeholders such as fishermen, shipping industry, port and harbour administrations, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Off-shore industries, etc. The OSF Services were also provided to various Indian Ocean rim countries. INCOIS in order to develop new operational services as well as new products to be useful to various stakeholders including the common man, it is proposed to take up various R & D and Outreach projects for the period April 2018 - March 2020, which can further be extended depending upon the extension of plan by Government of India.
