INCOIS is celebrating its silver jubilee in the year 2024. Established in 1999, over the past 25 years,
INCOIS has made significant contributions to ocean science and services in India and its neighboring
countries. Some of its key achievements include developing and operating a network of ocean observing
systems, providing ocean state forecasts and coastal hazard warnings, conducting research on oceans, and
playing an essential role in international oceanography. INCOIS's silver jubilee is a significant milestone
for the organization and for India's ocean science community. To commemorate the INCOIS silver jubilee
celebrations, Science Exhibition has been curated for young, enthusiastic students.. This contest aim to foster and
promote their keen interest and passion in the realms of knowledge, science and art. This document
outlines the rules and regulations of the competitions that are envisaged to be conducted as part of the
INCOIS silver jubilee celebrations. The competition will be held at ITCOocean building of INCOIS.
Rules and Regulations for School Competitions:
Format of the competition: First Round
Schools/Individuals from Telangana can register the name of the school and the participants following an online advertisement within the stipulated time using the advertised online registration form. The registration will be deemed complete only if the nomination-cum declaration form in the prescribed format Annexureduly signed by the Head of the Institution is uploaded within the stipulated time mentioned in the advertisement. The nomination-cum-declaration form contains an undertaking from the school that in the event their student reaches finals, the individual will be sent to participate in the offline competition to be held in INCOIS, Hyderabad.
The first 300 entries will be evaluated by the judges at INCOIS.
The artwork will be scrutinized to narrow down to 20 finalists who will be brought down to INCOIS to attend the final in-person competition.
Topic: Oceans of Opportunity: The Blue Economy in the 21st Century
Blue economy is the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and
jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem. Based on the topic, each team can identify a
theme and can be represented as a working model, experiment or exhibit. For example, the ocean as a
source of energy, offshore fish cultivation, desalination of salt water, etc.

Eligibity Criteria:
All schools within Telangana are eligible to apply.
Students of classes 9 to 12.
Each team shall consist of 3 students.
A team can be from the same class or different classes
Registration:
Participants must register online through the portal provided by INCOIS. Participants
must show their ideas on the model through a schematic (hand drawing)/ word/ ppt with a
brief description.
Prizes and Certificates:
Participation Certificate for all the students.
Medal / Trophy, Certificate and Cash prize for the top three participants
First Prize: ₹ 15,000
Second Prize: ₹ 12,000
Third Prize: ₹ 9,000

Four to five hours (10 AM to 2 PM)
Rules and Guidelines:
Participants must register online and submit their abstract (concept with schematic figure) through the provided link.Last Date 12/01/2024(Tentative).
Participants experiencing difficulties in registering are requested to contact outreach@incois.gov.in at the earliest.
All the participant's models must adhere to the theme given
Participants will be selected to exhibit their model/ experiment at INCOIS in the science
exhibition based on evaluation of the submitted abstract. Twenty selected teams will be
intimated via
e-mail/SMS/WhatsApp by 12/01/2024 (Tentative).
All participants must come in school uniforms.
All participants must come to the venue at the mentioned time. (9 AM)
All participants must write their name, class, division, and school name on a chart and place it at the place provided along with the model.
Explain their model/experiment/exhibit to the visitors and the judges.
The judges’ decision will be final and not open to dispute.
Any disruptive behaviour or non-completion within a given time under the prescribed
rules will lead to disqualification of the participant.
Only participants shall be allowed in the competition room.
INCOIS will reimburse AC 3-tier train tickets / Bus fare and arrange accommodation (sharing basis) and food for the non-local participants.
