Comparison of 1/12$ ^{\circ}$ HYCOM and RAMA buoy Temperature Profiles

RAMA buoys with long time-series and good quality data have been selected from Indian Ocean and are used to compare with simulated temperature profiles extracted from HYCOM model outputs at the same time and space where RAMA buoys sampled the ocean. Where-ever data gaps are present in observed data, same gap is artificially imposed to model data for statistical consistency. For each RAMA buoy, a location map where RAMA buoy did the sampling, and a Time - Depth section of the observed data and model data are presented in the top two panels. The difference between the model and observed temperature is presented in the third bottom panel. On top right hand side of the time depth panels, mean profiles of RAMA observed temperature is plotted along with mean of model simulated temperature profiles at same time ans space. In second row the standard deviation of RAMA observed and model simulated profiles are presented along with the RMS difference between both. In third row, the depth variation of the correlation of the observed and simulated profiles are presented.
